Jack Brooks was the chairman of the subcommittee and engaged in a lengthy investigation of the FAA. Four months after this report was released, the plane carrying the Marshall University football team crashed in Huntington, West Virginia killing all on board. The Advisory Committee agreed it was necessary for the Judiciary Committee to introduce a resolution to the House of Representatives to explicitly confirm the Judiciary Committee's responsibility and jurisdiction to investigate the conduct of the President and whether or not the President had committed Constitutionally impeachable offenses.
