-
Description
-
Jack Brooks's response to a constituent, Kirk Clark, regarding the Arab Oil Embargo and the state of the U.S. economy [camh-dob-001218]. Brooks explains that the U.S. government did not enter into contracts with Arab nations to supply the United States with oil, rather, that Arab nations were "primarily financed by oil companies which were generally owned by American citizens." Regarding the economy, Brooks acknowledges the problem of inflation, particularly in the past two years, and criticizes the role of the Nixon Administration.

The original packet of signatures was mailed in by constituent Jeff Riley [camh-dob-001205]. Brooks mailed a statement to every person who had signed the petition, an act Riley later commended.
