-
Description
-
Handwritten notes, likely by Jack Brooks's longtime aide, Bill Jones, regarding the 1973 investigation of public funds spent on presidential properties. The notes include total known expenditures at San Clemente, California, and Key Biscayne, Florida, which at that point totaled $10,124,000, excluding approximately $1,000,000 per year for Secret Service guards. Also listed are seven items of interest, including a $65,000 fence at Key Biscayne that was a replica of the White House fence, and $172,000 spent on landscaping and paving at San Clemente to enhance its value.
