Beatrice Bailey and Dolly Swfit checking pour test and running viscosities on hydraulic oils. There’s an inscription that reads, "At the left is Beatrice Bailey checking a pour test jar while on the right we see Dolly Swift running the newest piece of testing apparatus at the works lab at Paulsboro. It is a specially constructed piece of equipment used to run viscosities on hydraulic oils that must pass a minus forty temperature test. These oils are used in the many hydraulic systems of our modern planes." In pencil, there is a number, "76," and written "Paulsboro Refinery." There’s a sticker that says, "1942-1945 - Fairfax, NJ Geographical Subject." There’s a stamp that says, "Return to: Socony-Vacuum Oil Co., Inc., Advertising Department, 26 Broadway, New York, NY."

On the back of the photo, there’s an inscription that reads, "Reading from the foreground to background we have Betty Gray, spraying on a brand,; Dot O’ Quinn is tipping the next drum over for Betty and Thelma Mattson is cleaning up a stencil so that the brands will stand out clearly and neatly. As you can see by checking the picture carefully they are working on an order for the United States Navy. With the exception of the leaders of the department and a few labor jobs this division is run entirely by women." In pencil, there’s a number written, "83," and the words, Paulsboro Refinery." There’s a sticker that reads, "1942-1945 - Fairfax, NJ Geographical Subject."
