Associated Press captions reads: 'A South Vietnamese woman begs to be taken aboard an evacuation helicopter along with man, hand upraised, who was wounded by Viet Cong attacking Ba Gia July 5. The Viet Cong had surrounded Ba Gia when the helicopter landed. Some of the wounded were evacuated but this couple were left behind. This picture was made from the helicopter by photographer Eddie Adams.'

Sand and air blasts from helicopter rotor whip at them as they dash through the cemetery, dodging gravestones and enemy fire. Troops of the unit which were not evacuated on helicopter were caught in a deadly crossfire when friendly South Vietnamese troops mistakenly opened fire on them from opposite side of enemy fire.
