Description
-
National Geographic (March 1995) caption reads, "A fishermanís dog dug up a thousand-year-old corpse near Camarones Cove; his master posed it like a macabre sun worshiper. By the time this individual died, the Chinchorro had long since abandoned mummification. Instead the climate, the world's driest, preserved the body, hair, and clothing, along with human bones from countless other burials along the shore."
