Description

Dorothy Bland brings more than 25 years of media experience, from a reporter to a marketing consultant. Her career started at daily newspapers in Arkansas and Tennessee before joining Gannett in 1980. At Gannett, she served a variety of roles at USA Today and earned three Gannett president's rings for excellence as a publisher. She is also an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). She currently serves as the Dean of the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas. Prior to UNT, she served five years as the journalism director at Florida A&M University.

Jeryl Levin has extensive philanthropy experience in the Jewish community, social justice, and arts. She received her bachelor's degree in English from Columbia University. She served as the executive director for the Illinois Ethnic Coalition, widely known for bringing ethnic groups together on issues of common concern. She also partnered with Cynthia Linton to produce two editions of "The Chicago Area Handbook," a book on the different ethnic groups in the many neighborhoods of Chicago.

Susanne Shaw is the executive director of the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. ACEJMC is responsible for the evaluation of professional journalism and mass communication programs in U.S. colleges and universities. She is a past Executive Director of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). Shaw teaches at the University of Kansas, where she has been for more than 30 years.

Tony Atwater has had an enriched career in broadcast journalism and administration. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in mass media arts from Hampton University in 1973, and his Ph.D. in communication research from Michigan State University in 1983. He has performed research in news selection behavior in the mass media, and has published 30 refereed journal articles on the subject. Atwater held administrative positions at Northern Kentucky University, the University of Toledo, and Youngstown State University in Ohio. He served as the President of Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2005, and Norfolk State University in 2011. In addition, he served as the president of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).
