James Polk provides a quick history of his life as a musician, starting with his first musical experience and moving through all of the different instruments he played through school. He talks about being introduced to Jazz, his first band and going on tour with Lionel Hampton in 1969 after filling in for his missing bass player at Hemisphere in San Antonio. Polk also talks about a long hiatus playing music and his eventual. He talks about filling in as the piano player for Ray Charles at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas and how that opportunity leads him to go on tour with Charles. Polk discusses writing arrangements for Ray Charles, and the Grammy Nominations achieved for this work. He closes by talking about his time playing at the Victory Grill the players he worked with there, integration and forming his band ""James Polk and Company."" Most of the recording resides on one channel; the second channel signal is weak.
