Associated Press captions reads: 'A South Vietnamese woman begs to be taken aboard an evacuation helicopter along with man, hand upraised, who was wounded by Viet Cong attacking Ba Gia July 5. The Viet Cong had surrounded Ba Gia when the helicopter landed. Some of the wounded were evacuated but this couple were left behind. This picture was made from the helicopter by photographer Eddie Adams.'

Troops of the unit which were not evacuated on helicopter were caught in a deadly crossfire when friendly South Vietnamese troops mistakenly opened fire on them from opposite side of enemy fire. This is one of a series by associated press photographer Eddie Adams."

She and other villagers of My Son were caught in crossfire April 24 when the Marines moved into the hamlet to clear it of Viet Cong and expand the defense perimeter around Da Nang Air Base. On ground behind her, a Vietnamese father protects his child by covering it with his body.'
