Dr. Phil Jeter has worn many hats in many different places. He received a bachelor's from Johnson C. Smith University, a master's from Cornell University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His journalism career started as a news writer for the United Press International Inc. Some time after, he became involved with administration in higher education. He was a professor at Middle Tennessee University and spent 22 years at Florida A&M University. He now sits as a Professor and Chair at Winston-Salem State University. He is also a lifelong member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
