Lillian Kopenhaver is an award winning Dean Emeritus and professor, nationally-known for research on the First Amendment and student press. She received the Outstanding Woman in Journalism and Mass Communication Education Award in 2009 (AEJMC), the Wells Key (SPJ), the Gold Key of the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, and the Torch Award (FIU Alumni Association). She was also inducted into the National Hall of Fame of both College Media Advisers and the Community College Journalism Association. Kopenhaver is a past president of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, College Media Advisers, and the Student Press Law Center and is author of more than 100 scholarly articles, monographs and books.
