Joe Tonahill, a Beaumont lawyer, writes Jack Brooks to express his regrets about missing an event in Piney Woods honoring Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson during his visit. Tonahill was Brooks's opponent in the 1952 congressional race. When Jack Ruby was prosecuted for the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald, Tonahill served as his defense lawyer.
