Jeryl Levin has extensive philanthropy experience in the Jewish community, social justice, and arts. She received her bachelor's degree in English from Columbia University. She served as the executive director for the Illinois Ethnic Coalition, widely known for bringing ethnic groups together on issues of common concern. She also partnered with Cynthia Linton to produce two editions of "The Chicago Area Handbook," a book on the different ethnic groups in the many neighborhoods of Chicago.

Mark Trahant is an independent journalist and a faculty member at the University of North Dakota. He is the former editor of the editorial page for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and has worked in many newsrooms including, The Seattle Times, The Arizona Republic, The Salt Lake Tribune, and Navajo Times. Trahant frequently posts on his blog, TrahantReports.com, and for more than a decade, writes a daily news rhyme on Twitter.

Tony Atwater has had an enriched career in broadcast journalism and administration. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in mass media arts from Hampton University in 1973, and his Ph.D. in communication research from Michigan State University in 1983. He has performed research in news selection behavior in the mass media, and has published 30 refereed journal articles on the subject. Atwater held administrative positions at Northern Kentucky University, the University of Toledo, and Youngstown State University in Ohio. He served as the President of Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2005, and Norfolk State University in 2011. In addition, he served as the president of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).
