Jack B. Brooks papers
-
Description
-
A statement, annotated by Jack Brooks, discussing the problems associated with two year terms for Representatives in Congress. It proposes a four year term instead. Due to congressional redistricting caused by the 1965 Martin v. Bush Supreme Court ruling, Brooks went from representing 416,000 people in the 2nd district to representing 457,000 people in the 9th district. He explicitly references this change in an annotation next to a paragraph regarding the increased responsibilities of Representatives due to population growth.

-
Description
-
Draft copy of an article of impeachment regarding President Richard Nixon's alleged tax fraud and violation of the emoluments clause of the Constitution. Jack Brooks appears to have written drafts which combined these charges as well as separate articles for each charge. He also wrote drafts that were more specific and others that were more general in their approach to the charges.
