J Miguel Falcón to the Ayuntamiento of Béxar
foth_0029_multipage
Sr. Falcón's notification to the Ayuntamiento of San Antonio that Austin was to be arrested and returned to Mexico City. The Mexican government's refusal to grant statehood to Texas led Austin to advise the Ayuntamiento of San Antonio to take the lead in forming a provisional state government. That action was considered treason, and in this document, Sr. Falcón of the Mexican government alerts the Ayuntamiento of San Antonio to arrest Austin. Austin eventually spent more than two years in prison.
