William A. A. Wallace came to Texas in November 1836 searching for his brother and his cousin. Wallace, nicknamed Bigfoot because of his size, was not impressed initially by Texas. Nevertheless, Wallace became a Texan and lived on his Medina River ranch until his death in 1899.
