[Variant of Decree of the Congreso General, approved by José Joaquín de Herrera, President ad interim, on June 4, 1845, and promulgated the same day by Luis G. Cuevas, providing first that the Mexican nation call all her sons to the defense of the national independence threatened by the annexation of Texas to the United States, and secondly, that the government place under arms all the forces of the army authorized by the existing laws, and also raise, as allowed by a decree of December 9, 1844, an additional force under the name of "Defensores de la independencia y de las leyes."
